Character Role Analysis

Claude Frollo

Just because we don't have one good guy doesn't mean we can't have a clear bad guy. Frollo is definitely the one causing the trouble in old Paris-town. Why can't he just leave things alone? Between all the bad stuff he does to Esmeralda, we don't end up with a whole lot of sympathy for him—though we do get some glimpses of his earlier days when he was, dare we say it, a good person.

It's the combination of Frollo's weird occult interests, his crazy schemes, and his internal turmoil all make him one heck of a complex villain—almost an antihero, really, given the good qualities that he does (or did) have.
