Character Analysis
House: Gryffindor, 7th Year
Quidditch: Keeper; Captain
Oliver Wood is, to put it nicely, passionate about Quidditch.
"I was afraid you'd take it like this! We mustn't relax! We must keep our focus! Slytherin is trying to wrong-foot us! We must win!"
"Oliver, calm down!" said Fred, looking slightly alarmed. "We're taking Hufflepuff very seriously. Seriously." (9.3.13-14)
Oliver Wood pretty much lives and breathes Quidditch, which makes him a good, if intense, Captain and Keeper for his team. And yeah, he borders on manic at times. But, he's been at it for seven years and sure didn't want to graduate without winning the Quidditch Cup, which is understandable. In a way, Oliver Wood is what Harry could have become if all that Voldemort business wasn't going on – a nice guy, a good captain, a Quidditch fanatic, and a star player. Though we don't learn what his post-graduation plans are in this book, we're willing to believe they have something to do with Quidditch. Just a wild guess there.
