Prosecutor Richard Ekström

Character Analysis

Ekström is the Swedish prosecutor who wants to see Salander locked up for life. He believes everything bad ever said about her. In this book, he becomes a pawn in the Section's game, defending Teleborian and condemning Salander. When the truth comes to light in court, he is forced to admit, at least to himself, that he made a mistake. After Teleborian is discredited and arrested, Ekström looks at Salander and thinks, "She is a victim, pure and simple" (28.15).
