Character Role Analysis

The Parisians

For both Gigi and Gaston (and Madame Alvarez, too), the expectations of Parisian society cause problems. Gigi fights against what it means to be a lady in Parisian society. Her grandmother worries about people gossiping, while trying to find a suitable financial situation for Gigi. Gaston is (surprise, surprise) bored with his obligations as a rich party-boy. It's only when each figures out how to buck these expectations in their own way that they can get what they want.
