Character Role Analysis

Guy Montag

Montag is the clear protagonist of Fahrenheit 451. We follow his story, we hear his thoughts, and we’re sympathetically on his side. Montag has a lot of the classic hero qualities. He’s distinguished from the rest of his peers by his "special" qualities, he’s brave, but he’s human enough that we can connect with his plight (he feels guilty and constantly doubts himself).
