Character Role Analysis
Samuel Hamilton, Lee
Adam would be totally lost without his handy scholarly friends. They are the ones who make sure that Adam literally doesn't forget to eat—or forget that he has kids. With a job like that, it's no wonder the two of them are best friends. Personality-wise, they jibe pretty well too: they like to have abstract discussions about ethnicity and identity, they read books on philosophy, and they think long and hard about the meaning of texts like the Bible. They remind us a little of Gandalf, or Owl from Winnie the Pooh—you know, wise bookish types. Their job is to think about things.
