A Doll's House is a must read for any student of literature...or for anyone that's ever watched The Bachelor. Why? Because with this play, Ibsen provided the major spark for one of the most influential genres of drama: realism.

Today, realism has become so ubiquitous, especially in the world of film and television, that people just accept it as "normal," but take a moment to imagine this: if it weren't for Ibsen, we might not have such modern examples of realism as Law and Order, Downton Abbey, or—gasp!—Breaking Bad.
