- To make matters worse, no one wants to give Velma any gigs.
- Velma has to go suck up to Roxie, which is the last thing she wants to do.
- She brings Roxie some caramels, but Roxie declines. She's watching her figure for the trial.
- Velma pitches a double act to Roxie.
- She sings a song, "In an act… of desperation."
- "I can't do it alone," she sings, relating her sister act to Roxie… you know, before she killed her own sister.
- She dances her heart out, while Roxie looks on, bored.
- "So, where was the part where you blew her brains out?" Roxie quips when Velma finishes. Hmm, we think she's not interested in teaming up.
- Roxie points out that Velma has been relegated to the back page of the papers.
- Then she gives Velma a piece of advice: "Lay off the caramels." Ouch. But they're so good!
