You're probably only reading this because you're aware of just how awesome A Modest Proposal is. It's scathing social criticism taken to the extreme—hey there, baby eating—and the sort of thing that delights English teachers who readily get what's going on. Only trouble is, your students don't have fancy degrees yet, and as such, they're probably not super well-versed in the historical context—so the satire won't make more than superficial sense at best—nor are they super comfortable reading things written in 1729.

So yeah, you've got your hands full with this one.
