Hallmarks and Quirks
Things I'm Good At:
- Football, football, football. Did I mention football?
- Criminology and Law. C.S.I. addicts, unite.
- Filmmaking.
- Running off and joining the circus. No, really. My students can take a class in circus if they want to.
My Top 5 Must-Haves:
- A good air conditioner and access to a swimming pool. There's nothing like a sweaty Tallahassee summer.
- A bicycle. I can get anywhere I need to go in just a few minutes.
- Some Nole gear. It doesn't matter if you like football or not—you'll end up at a game sooner or later.
- A plaid shirt. It's the perfect attire for hipsters and Greek-lifers alike.
- A radio. No matter what mood I'm in, there are always killer tunes pumping from WVFS, my award-winning college radio station.
Why You Might Have Heard of Me:
- How about my three national football championships? Ring a bell?
- I'm the oldest university in the state of Florida. I only used to admit female students back then, but these days all are welcome.
- Some people say that I was the one who invented "streaking," but I plead the Fifth.
On a regular Saturday night, you can find me...
Well, that depends on my mood. One night, I might catch a killer indie rock show at Club Downunder, which is free for students. Another night, I might hang out at one of the many bars or house parties around campus. But honestly, I might be too exhausted from Friday night to do anything…except maybe binge on Arrested Development and Gumby's pizza. I'm happy with any (or all) of the above.
Favorite Hangouts:
- When I'm in an artsy mood, I love to have a nice cup of coffee at All Saint's Cafe and then stroll over to Retrofit Records for some new tunes.
- Landis Green. All day, every day.
- The Strip for an awesome bar/club scene. I always end up there at the end of the night.
Quirks:
- I can give you plenty of opportunities to study abroad with my sisters in Panama, Italy, and London. You should let me know early because spots fill up fast.
- Don't ever walk near Westcott Fountain on your birthday. Just trust me on this one.
- Don't bother signing up for a gym membership when you move into town—I've got my very own facility called the Leach Center and it is top-notch.
