Build on others' talk in conversations by linking their comments to the remarks of others.

You'll notice that the slight difference from first to second grade has to do with one key word: linking. First graders get to keep the conversation going, but second graders need to try their best to make sure it's still on topic, too, with connections. We know, it's tough sometimes.
