Identify new meanings for familiar words and apply them accurately (e.g., knowing duck is a bird and learning the verb to duck).

Spoiler alert: English isn't as simple as we'd sometimes like it to be, and the same word can have different meanings in different contexts. A student might save a few of their brain cells if they know that "duck and cover" has nothing to do with our winged friends.
