If you've built some major blockbuster coasters and have been in the biz many years, you can probably command a little more money...but engineers fresh out of school will make less—usually only around $45,000 to $55,000 (source).

It's livable, though not a fortune. On the plus side, since you only need a BA for the job, you won't have as many student loans to pay back as someone with a master's, or someone who went to med school.
