Fame
You'll become famous around the dinner table when recounting tales of the times you prevented offenders from committing illegal acts. However, most of the people around that table already know who you are anyway. There isn't much fame that goes along with being a parole officer. It's better that way. You don't want to be that guy on the news who was caught in a shoot-out at the Not-O.K. Corral.
