If you get your undergraduate degree (not a necessity, but helpful in the job market), add four more years of optometry school. Once you pass the National Boards in Optometry you will be an O.D., or doctor of Optometry (source).

If you have excellent organization and management skills, are entrepreneurial, have good communication skills, and are highly motivated and ambitious, then you'll be a great optometrist (source). Bonus points if you wear funky glasses.
