Stress

There is no true crunch time in academia. Yes, there will be deadlines, but for the most part, you're a savvy and experienced scientist who knows precisely how to plan your study out over three years and not get behind. There'll be times when you're running around the office, furiously collecting spreadsheets and jamming them into a grant application to guarantee your funding request hits before deadline, but there'll also be moments of utter zen as you settle in for a three-hour frog observ-o-thon.

If you know what you're doing (and for this gig, you sort of have to), you shouldn't have too much trouble keeping your work and home life as separate as a bearded dragon and a tank full of cute, but inevitably doomed crickets.
