Glory

Should there be a carnation or a rose there? What about putting a heart in that corner? And should that say, "A special gift for a special someone" or "A special gift for my special someone"?

Snooze fest. A lot of greeting card writing is just updating what has already been done a bajillion times before. Good luck finding a sense of accomplishment in that.

If you're really looking for glory, though, take a page out of Punch Street, a new startup greeting card company aimed at recent prison inmates and teen parents (source). Perhaps you self-publish and donate a portion of your proceeds to your favorite charity or host workshops for aspiring writers and card printers, allowing you to really give back to your community. There's a lot of glory in helping but it's definitely not inherent to the job. Now what were you saying about hearts and flowers?
