Odds are great that if you can get into the program, you can stay there until retirement age—provided you can maintain the physical and mental toughness required of the job.

Beyond that, so long as you follow the rules and do what you're told, you'll find a more or less permanent home in the Coast Guard. So in that sense, the odds of hanging on are totally up to you.
