- 00:10
at brainy high You may not smoke cigarettes or wear
- 00:13
leather jackets or lather a ton of product in his

hair but well like his namesake he is a rebel

without a cause From the moment james enters the doors
- 00:21
of his school to the time the final bell rings
- 00:24
james brain is a pretty much on strike If his
- 00:27
geometry teacher starts talking about the pythagorean theorem well it
- 00:31
zones out begins replaying an episode of sons of anarchy
- 00:34
instead If his english teacher starts detail ing the themes
- 00:38
in grapes of wrath well his brain switches gears and
- 00:41
fantasizes about what it might be like to date Katie
- 00:43
whiffle and his chemistry teacher starts going over the periodic
- 00:46
table while the brain shuts down completely because well james
- 00:49
really just doesn't see the point as far as he's
- 00:51
concerned school is prison the result of a sentence he
- 00:54
has unfairly received in one which he must suffer and
- 00:57
struggle through until graduation or until his appeal is granted
- 01:00
whichever comes first In the meantime he plans to do
- 01:03
as little as humanly possible you know escaped by with
- 01:05
d's and the occasional c minus in p e and
- 01:07
then get out of dodge He knows getting a diploma
- 01:10
is important so he wouldn't dream of dropping out physically
- 01:13
anyway But james misjudges things a tad thinking he's got
- 01:17
the grades that past the ninth grade He slacks on
- 01:19
finals and suddenly he's being told he gets to do
- 01:22
it all over again next year It's almost like he
- 01:25
got trying to escape via the perimeter fence And he
- 01:27
has another year added to his sentence is punishment don't
- 01:30
Well so james does slightly more work the next time
- 01:33
around he passes the ninth grade barely and moves on
- 01:35
to a sophomore year again He does the bare minimum
- 01:38
and again his junior year and again a senior year
- 01:40
And he does get that diploma You're later than all
- 01:42
his friends did And he's released Oh sweet freedom You
- 01:45
know like that scene from shawshank redemption Time for james
- 01:48
to get a job What will it be Music producer
- 01:50
astronauts and on wall street guys The limit right No
- 01:54
actually turns out grounds the limit with no college education
- 01:57
And high school transcripts that would make anyone cry James
- 02:00
is qualified for exactly well bacchus he gets a fast
- 02:04
food job This is not what he wanted in his
- 02:06
life He always saw himself Is someone bigger and better
- 02:08
and he definitely saw himself doing something that earned him
- 02:11
more than ten bucks an hour how's he supposed to
- 02:13
afford video games on that salary And like when can
- 02:15
he afford to move out of mom's basement The one
- 02:17
day james looks in the mirror and decides to turn
- 02:20
things around he attends a community college really applies himself
- 02:23
this time It ain't easy because he's well he's pretty
- 02:26
daft that tends to happen when you don't pay attention
- 02:28
in class for thirteen years but eventually he sticks with
- 02:32
it and he starts to get it actually posts amazing
- 02:34
bees for once in his life uses his halfway decent
- 02:37
grades is a stepping stone to get into a reasonably
- 02:39
respectable state university graduates with a ba in business administration
- 02:44
and just like that he's on his way to something
- 02:45
bigger and better if only he weren't getting their three
- 02:48
years later than all his peers That's three x years
- 02:50
of schooling Three fewer years for an income that could
- 02:52
be an invested Three few years of living comfortably and
- 02:56
well realizing that a little concentration hard work on the
- 02:59
front and could've paid huge dividends in the future Ah
- 03:02
well and he can't ever have his lost years back
- 03:04
But at least he got in there In the end
- 03:06
they will lay off him Now it seems we're tearing 00:03:09.018 --> [endTime] him apart
