[Dino and Coop singing]

00:13

Whether you're doing some summery swinging… [Girl playing on a swing]

00:15

…or some snowy sledding…

00:17

…or even some sort of fun activity that doesn't start with the letter "S," like climbing [Child going down hill on a sled]

00:21

a tree, parks are a great place to be!

00:24

But these parks don't keep running by magic.

00:27

There isn't some slide you can rub that'll make a genie pop out and mow the lawn and

00:30

maintain all the sports equipment. [Genie mowing the lawn]

00:32

Luckily for us, and for exhausted genies everywhere, there are lots of people who do these jobs. [Genie faints and a park maintenance man takes over]

00:38

You might have a lot of fun at the splash park during the day…

00:41

…but once it closes down for the night, workers show up to clean the equipment so [Workers with a mop and other cleaning equipment]

00:45

that it's ready for the next day.

00:46

Plus, if they're ahead of schedule, they can take a few minutes to make sure the equipment's [One of the cleaners looking wet and unhappy]

00:50

still fun.

00:52

We think they've earned it.

00:53

Plants are a big concern when it comes to keeping a park in working order.

00:56

Grass needs to be cut… [Woman on a sit on lawnmower]

00:58

…gardeners need to water, trim, and care for all of the plants growing in the gardens…

01:02

…and arborists need to trim the trees that are getting just a bit too tall. [Arborist up a tree looking scared]

01:06

After all, what fun is climbing a tree if it never ends?

01:09

Well…it is cheaper than renting a rocket ship…

01:12

Sports equipment also needs a lot of attention. [Unhappy woman looking at flat basketballs]

01:15

Whether that means replacing basketball hoops or repairing tennis nets, park employees are

01:19

hard at work keeping the sports equipment in our parks fun and safe.

01:22

Some of them are also hard at work trying to come up with the next super fun sports [Man sat at a desk coming up with ideas]

01:26

craze, but we think tennisbasketball still has some kinks that need to be worked out. [Man hitting a basketball with a tennis racket]

01:30

Last but not least, there's lots of stuff that needs to be cleaned up.

01:33

In fall, that means raking up fallen leaves…

01:35

…in winter shoveling and plowing all the snow… [Man clearing snow from the front of his house]

01:37

…and all year round, emptying out trash cans. [Rubbish being dumped]

01:40

Believe it or not, leaving huge piles of trash around a park isn't exactly the best idea.

01:45

Unless you're really into playing in big piles of trash…and for the sake of everyone around [Boy jumps into trash pile]

01:49

you, we really hope you're not.
