Author James Joyce was born on this day in 1882 near Dublin. Joyce suffered from both cynophobia, the fear of dogs, and keraunophobia, the fear of thunder or lightning. Fortunately for his legion of fans, he did not suffer from papyrophobia (the fear of paper), aichmophobia (the fear of sharp things, like pens and pencils), or bibliophobia (the fear of books). If he did, many more trees would be alive today.
