Young Goodman Brown Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG

First things first: if you think that young Goodman Brown's children were delivered by storks, then you and your parents need to sit down and have a nice, long talk.

More importantly, though, there's a lot of really, incredibly bad stuff that gets mentioned in "Young Goodman Brown": child murder, "secret deeds," "wanton words" (64). But the point is that all of this stuff is simply mentioned, and mentioned quickly. This means that Hawthorne is leaving it up to you, reader, to imagine exactly what kind of "steaminess" those witches and wizards have been getting up to.
