Character Analysis

Mopsa is the Clown’s country bumpkin girlfriend. At the sheep-shearing festival, she demands that he buy her some trinkets from the peddler (Autolycus) and gets all worked up when the Clown’s other love interest, Dorcas, shows up and taunts her for not being able to land herself a husband (the Clown). Mopsa, like the other party-goers, is pretty ridiculous but she helps create a festive atmosphere in Bohemia and gives us plenty to laugh at.
