Uncle Tom’s Cabin contains a clear moral and concludes with a sermon, earnestly working to convince its readers that each member of society has the means to contribute to the abolition of slavery. The story contains numerous monologues, during which characters explain their situations at length, without interruptions by fellow characters – in fact, these soliloquies frequently come across as mini-sermons.
