Character Analysis
Tinor, the matriarch of Marheyo's household, is a flat character like Fayaway, only even more minor. She is notable for her industriousness, rare for the Typee, as far as Tommo is concerned. He calls her "the only industrious person in all the valley of Typee" (11.34). She cooks well and works busily—even when there seems no need to do so.
