Orphan Puck Connolly decides to enroll in the Scorpio Races to keep her older brother, Gabe, from leaving the island.
The stakes are raised when Puck discovers that her house will be foreclosed upon if she can't pay the mortgage. She really needs to win now.
Puck faces constant opposition from the male townsfolk, who repeatedly assert that the Scorpio Races is a man's game.
With Sean Kendrick's help, she trains her horse, Dove, for the races.
She also invites Sean to her house for dinner and falls in lurv.
When Mutt Malvern tries to kill her during the race, Sean stops him.
Puck wins. Phew.
Not only that, but her younger brother, Finn, bet on her to win, so now they're rolling in dough.
Puck pays off her house and uses the surplus to help Sean buy Corr.
