Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill)’s Timeline and Summary

Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill)’s Timeline and Summary

  • We first meet Luke as the Jawas are selling droids to Uncle Owen.
  • After buying C-3PO and R2-D2, Luke is tasked with cleaning them. While scouring the carbon scorching off R2, he finds part of the holographic message from Princess Leia to Obi-Wan.
  • That evening, R2-D2 runs off to find Obi-Wan. Luke and 3PO follow the next morning.
  • They catch up with R2 but have a run-in with a group of Sand People. Luke is rescued by old Ben Kenobi.
  • Ben reveals that he is the Obi-Wan the message is for. At his home, Obi-Wan tells Luke about the Jedi, the Force, and gives Luke his father's lightsaber.
  • Luke returns home to find his uncle and aunt murdered by stormtroopers. With his home destroyed, he asks Obi-Wan to train him in the ways of the Force.
  • Obi-Wan and Luke head for Mos Eisley and hire Han Solo and Chewbacca to fly them to Alderaan.
  • After a daring escape, Obi-Wan begins Luke's Jedi training aboard the Millennium Falcon.
  • Exiting lightspeed, the group discovers Alderaan has been destroyed and the Millennium Falcon is captured by the Death Star's tractor beam.
  • Obi-Wan leaves the group to shut down the tractor beam while Luke convinces Han to help him rescue Princess Leia before her execution.
  • After the not-so-great prison escape, Luke and company find themselves in the garbage compactor with a monster called a Dianoga. It's there because… we have no idea.
  • The trash compactor starts up, and C-3PO and R2-D2 barely manage to save Luke from being crushed into something resembling a Minecraft cube.
  • During a daring rush to the Millennium Falcon, Luke witnesses Obi-Wan killed by Darth Vader.
  • One space dogfight later, and the Millennium Falcon is on its way to the Rebel base on Yavin IV.
  • Luke joins the Red Squadron during the assault on the Death Star. Luke leads the third and final attack on the exhaust port.
  • Han Solo returns to save Luke from Darth Vader, and Luke manages to make the shot that destroys the Death Star.
  • He returns a hero of the Rebellion.
