• Thomas, an English chauffeur, marries a cook; they have a daughter, Sabrina.
• They move to America to work for the Larrabees.

• Sabrina develops a huge crush on David, one of the brothers Thomas works for. David barely notices her.
• Thomas arranges to send Sabrina to Paris to learn cooking, and to forget David.
• After two years, Sabrina returns, and is so chic that David falls in love with her immediately.
