There's definitely a romance brewing between Pressia and Bradwell, but all we really get is a smooch and some cuddling. Similarly, Partridge and Lyda kiss, but it's nothing too heated. (We're guessing there are infinite pages of fanfic out there, though, if you're shipping these characters especially hard.)
Sure, romance and love is a theme that lingers throughout the book, but there isn't any Fifty Shades of Gray-caliber stuff coming at you. Plus, most of the material that relates to romance is put in angsty middle-school terms—it's one step up from "girls rule, boys drool."
No, the most adult stuff Pure has to offer is totalitarian government and exploding heads. Sorry, guys.
