The Poisonwood Bible Book 4, Chapter 2 Summary

How It All Goes Down

Rachel

  • Rachel says that Leah is the cause of all their problems. Now, Leah wants to go hunting with the men. As if!
  • Leah's audacity doesn't just offend Rachel; it offends Tata Kuvudundu, the witch doctor. He doesn't believe in the tribe changing its ways to allow women to hunt.
  • At home, Leah and father have been fighting about it too. This time, however, Leah stands up to him, and makes him really mad. She leaves, and he blows off steam by chopping down sugar cane in a fit of rage.
  • That evening, Anatole finds an evil sign before bed and a bad mamma-jamma of a snake in his bed the next morning. Yikes! Whose work could this be?
