Character Analysis
Mrs. Jervis is the housekeeper at the Bedfordshire estate who, according to Pamela, was "a Gentlewoman born, tho' she has had Misfortunes" (8.2). She's generally pretty cool and well meaning—in fact, Pamela even thinks of her as a second mother—but she does make some iffy decisions that end up aiding and abetting Mr. B's attempts on Pamela.
She ends up getting herself fired, though, when she goes to Lady Davers with her concerns about Mr. B's treatment of Pamela. Once he and Pamela fall in love, however, all is forgiven on all sides, and she is rehired to serve as the housekeeper in Bedfordshire.
