Character Analysis
Archibald Thorndike is the headmaster of Gravesend Academy when John and Owen first start going to school there. He's kind of old and kooky. He really takes a shine to Owen and gives him privileges that other students don't get, like having the chance to interview candidates for the next headmaster position.
