Stephen Nakane Timeline and Summary

Stephen is the first grandchild in the family, and all of his relatives dote on him. He's the star of the show.
In Vancouver, Stephen had a room full of instruments to play with. He plays instruments with his father while his mother sings songs.
One day after the war begins, Stephen comes home with broken glasses. He learns the lesson that Japanese people are bad.
Another time, some kids beat him up and break his violin.
While the family is looking for someplace to move, Stephen develops a limp and he has to wear a cast on his leg.
In Slocan Stephen is obsessed with playing his mother's records.
When he and Naomi return to school, the white Canadian children threaten Stephen every day before class.
When they finally leave Slocan, Stephen accidentally breaks one of his treasured mother's records. His father comforts him.
On the sugar beet farm, life sucks so hard that Stephen doesn't even play his instruments. They dry up and crack.
When the family moves in to the town, Stephen starts playing again.
He plays so much that he becomes famous and starts touring the world.
We don't see Stephen again until it is time for Uncle's funeral. He's the same as usual, except a little fatter, a little older, and a little less cranky.
The last that we see is Stephen is right after he finds out his mother's fate in Nagasaki. He's just holding his head in his hands.
