John Thorpe may have wanted to be a romantic interest, but Catherine only has eyes for Henry. Northanger Abbey traces the love story between Henry and Catherine in conjunction with Catherine's personal development and experiences in the wider, adult world. Henry and Catherine effectively court throughout the entire novel and marry by the end, which pretty much locks down Henry's status as romantic interest.
