John Thorpe Timeline and Summary

John arrives in Bath with James Morland and meets Catherine.
John begins courting Catherine in his own awkward way. He takes her on carriage rides and dances with her at a ball.
In an effort to separate Catherine from the Tilneys, John lies to Catherine. First he tells her the Tilneys aren't coming over when Catherine expects them, in order to get her to go riding with him.
Second, John attempts to postpone Catherine's outing with Eleanor and Henry. Catherine corrects that situation though.
After learning of his sister's engagement, John hints about marriage to Catherine. She fails to pick up on what he is saying though.
John asks Isabella to approach Catherine on his behalf, but Catherine refuses to marry him.
We learn through Henry and the narrator that John had spread rumors to General Tilney about Catherine's wealth, and later lack of wealth. These rumors have caused the General to behave very rudely to Catherine.
