Character Analysis
The young American Hector MacQueen is Mr. Ratchett's secretary. His father was the District Attorney on the Armstrong case, and he has no problems whatsoever owning up to his dislike of Ratchett. He provides an alibi for the night of the murder for Colonel Arbuthnot, with whom he had a long and involved discussion about India and politics.
