- Sometimes Mother Barker comes by and rocks Abby to sleep at naptime.
- On this particular day, Mother Barker brings Abyssinia over to her house to hang around as she treats local women with folk medicine.
- Sometimes Mother Barker gets Abby home right before Strong arrives; he absolutely loves seeing his daughter standing on the porch waiting for him.
- Winter passes, then spring; a calf is born and soon summer begins to end.
- Mother Barker takes Abby walking in nature with her, teaching the girl to recognize medicinal roots and generally enjoying her time with the child. It's pretty sweet, if we do say so ourselves.
