Character Role Analysis

Dante

The entire story is told from Dante’s perspective and he identifies himself as good and righteous in contrast to the obvious wickedness of the sinners. With his addresses to the reader, he invites onlookers to identify and sympathize with him. Indeed, his addresses to us ask us to judge his words for ourselves and interpret our own meaning. Which makes Dante a fairly likeable guy, despite his occasional arrogance.
