If on a winter's night a traveler Trivia

Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge

Hey there! Wanna write a classic piece of literature? You might want to check out Italo Calvino's "14 Definitions of What Makes a Classic."  If you miss one, at least there are 13 more you can hit.

If on a winter's night a traveler might be complicated, but Calvino also tried his hand at something a little simpler: fairy tales. We suggest checking them out for a fresh of breath Calvino air. But be warned: there's always more than meets the eye.

Think you can write like Calvino? Well, prove it. How? By trying to win the Calvino Prize, awarded by an annual fiction competition sponsored by the Creative Writing Program in the English Department of the University of Louisville. As the website says, prizes will be awarded to "outstanding pieces of fiction in the fabulist experimentalist style of Italo Calvino." Sounds like a contest we'd like to win.
