A. Bettik

Character Analysis

Android Does

A. Bettik is the android who guides the pilgrims from the inn on Keats to the barge Benares. He doesn't serve much of a purpose in this book other than to say, Hey! We've got androids here! and to provide brief religious commentary: "Androids were free from original sin, therefore spiritually superior to humankind and—incidentally—exempt from the Shrike's terrible and inevitable retribution" (2.129).

If Androids are free from original sin, what about iPhones?
