- Just in case anyone had forgotten any of FDR's previous points during this very succinct and brief speech, he reminds his audience that he's called for personal sacrifice.
- Then, he passive-aggressively implies that he's just sure almost all Americans will be down for giving up whatever he asks.
- FDR clarifies that when he says "sacrifice," he means more taxes, which will go directly into the defense budget.
- He then forewarns against war profiteering and promises fair taxation based on economic status, i.e. how wealthy or poor a person is.
- He tells Congress that if they act according to these principles, America will be happy and proud.
