Gerald O'Hara Timeline & Summary

During the political troubles between England and Ireland, Gerald kills a man.
He comes to America, where his brothers help him get on his feet; he wins a slave and a plantation through gambling, and builds Tara.
He marries Ellen Robillard, who belongs to an established family.
They have three daughters, along with several sons who die in infancy.
The Civil War starts.
During the war, Ellen contracts typhus and dies.
Gerald loses his mind; Scarlett takes over the running of Tara; the war ends.
After Scarlett moves to Atlanta, Suellen tries to convince Gerald to sign a loyalty oath to the Union in order to get money.
Gerald comes to and refuses, and then dies trying to jump a fence with his horse.
