Exactly how steamy is this story?

Look all you want. You ain't going to find much steam in this novel. The closest you'll get is the part where Beret reminisces about getting pregnant with Per Hansa before they were married (Psst! That means they had sex !)
But the people in this book are pretty prim and proper when it comes to sex. And by that, we mean that they don't talk about sex at all . It's practically scandalous when one of them dances a merry jig with a woman who's not his wife.
If, however, we were giving this novel a Snowiness Rating, we'd slap it with a XXX. You know, for the approximately thirty feet of snow that North Dakota gets every winter. Sheesh, after reading Giants in the Earth, Buffalo, NY looks downright arid.
