Montgomery

Montgomery is also Prendick's buddy, at least at first. They really hit it off on the Ipecacuanha and Prendick owes Montgomery his life on more than one occasion. There's plenty of affection between the two—check out "Chapter 4"—and some say they may have been more than friends.
