Although Sherman Alexie's "Dangerous Astronomy" uses a lot of repetition and figurative language in a traditional form, he uses a laidback, conversational tone throughout the poem. That doesn't mean the poem is easy to understand, but he invites us into his own experience so honestly, and with such clear language, you'll enjoy the simplicity once you get started.
