Okay, so we don't see much of Diderot in The Confessions. Rousseau's awfully worried when Diderot lands himself in prison, though. He even goes so far as to intervene on behalf of his friend. Diderot's not the only one writing incendiary material, though. His troubles foreshadow Rousseau's brush with the law years later, when he's accused of writing some blasphemous stuff.
