Duncan Schaeffer / Lorraine Quarrles to Charlie Wales

While Charlie has reformed (or at least tried, depending on your point of view), Lorraine and Duncan are still living the same fast-lane life that characterized the extravagant 1920s. If Charlie has matured, the two of them are just as childish as ever. Charlie's self-awareness and his shame at his former actions contrasts with Lorraine and Duncan's carefree, irresponsible ignorance that the world has in fact changed.
