Sections 1-4
- Now that it's his second year, Martin is able to take Max Gottlieb's bacteriology course. We look in on him watching Gottlieb inject a guinea pig with anthrax (in order to study how the bacteria works).
- In imitation of Gottlieb, Martin starts working alone in the laboratory at night. Gottlieb notices this and compliments Martin. He's still super hard to please, though.
