Miss Josephine Barry

Character Analysis

Josephine Barry is Diana's great-aunt. We don't get much of her life story in this book, but we do know she never married and lives in a large mansion in Charlottetown. Miss Barry's a bit sarcastic, kind of like Marilla. She calls Anne "Anne-girl" and befriends her because she thinks Anne's speeches are funny. By the end of the book, though, she counts herself as one of Anne's real friends.
