Character Role Analysis

Bill Sampson

Bill is kind, supportive, and romantic, and he's always there to encourage and cheer up Margo… to a point. When Margo's at her lowest, after the argument with Lloyd, she says she's "nothing but a body with a voice. No mind." Bill responds, "What a body, what a voice."

What her about her mind, Bill? We were too busy swooning over the compliment, which is nice for a time when women weren't supposed to have minds anyway. Bill's more romantic than most men of the time… but he's still a man of his times.
